“Ball on a Budget” was originally developed by Chime’s in-house creative team. After self-producing the first season and partnering with SLAM Magazine on the second, they brought it to Complex for the third; tapping into our cultural expertise, creative execution, and talent relationships.
The premise of the show is to take talented figures in their field and challenge them to put an outfit together with $300 or less. Along the way, they dive into their style and financial journeys. Laughs and tough decisions ensue.
After refreshing the creative approach, we filmed the first episode with the inimitable Teyana Taylor. We then quickly followed up with seven more episodes, shot in thrift stores across the country and starring the likes of Joey Bada$$, Hailey Van Lith, Chris Paul, Jordyn Huitema, and more.
To date, the season has garnered 2.8 million total views on YouTube.
